WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT

Making a Booking

When you book an appointment online with Mandy, you can choose a date and time to visit her at Whitley Bay Osteopathic Centre on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

The clinic uses a secure online booking system, where you can select the type of service you require - and choose a date and time for your appointment. You will need to select Mandy as your preferred practitioner as it's a shared clinic. Costs are shown adjacent to each service.

If you wish to discuss osteopathic approaches to your symptoms in advance of making an appointment, please contact Mandy.

Your First Appointment

Your appointment

We will discuss your symptoms and consider their possible root causes, by considering a wide range of factors, such as ergonomic and postural factors, childhood or sports injuries, sleeping posture and background health conditions.

Advice and referrals

As a registered osteopath, I am trained to screen for medical conditions. If for any reason I believe you would not benefit from osteopathic treatment, we can discuss suitable alternatives. If it is helpful, and only with your consent, I can write a referral letter to your GP, midwife or other health professional.

Examination

Bearing all this in mind, I will then undertake a musculoskeletal examination involving an observation of your posture and simple movements. I may also take your blood pressure and test reflexes, joint mobility and muscle strength.

Discretion

For the purposes of examination and treatment it may be necessary to remove some clothes to examine the symptomatic area. Please be assured of feeling relaxed and of maintaining your modesty.

The way forward

After examination I will discuss my thinking with you and answer any questions you may have about your symptoms, their cause/s and your recovery. We will discuss a range of treatment approaches and jointly decide on the best way ahead.

Being accompanied

You may bring a relative, partner or friend to your appointment - but please let me know in advance so that I can send them the COVID-19 screening questionnaire too.

Confidentiality

All information will be treated as confidential in accordance with standards of practice set out by the General Osteopathic Council and the Data Protection Act 1998, and with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018. The online booking system 'JaneApp' holds the highest standards of data-security and compliance to data protection regulations.
